The open operating system OpenKylin, which comes from China, has a similar look and functionality to Windows and is free. However, the interest in it is not high, after two weeks on the market it has not been possible to exceed even the million-withdrawal threshold.

In China, applications are being created that can drive the whole world crazy. For example, the social network TikTok, which emphasizes videos, has already become one of the most successful in the world a year after its launch. After only nine months on the market, the app had 100 million users, and now the number of downloads is counted in the billions.

However, it now seems that the OpenKylin operating system will not be so popular. The creators released it for download to the general public at the beginning of July, and since then only 750,000 people have downloaded it. Similar to TikTok, the new platform is not only targeting users in China, but practically all over the world – an English-language version is also available. It can be downloaded free of charge directly from the website of the creators of https://www.openkylin.top/downloads/712-en.html).

OpenKylin is based on the Linux operating system and specifically very similar to the Ubuntu operating system. Windows users will be very familiar with the working environment, there is an application bar, similar to the Start menu, classic folders, etc. Potential buyers do not even have to worry that it is some unfinished work sewn with a hot needle. Beijing has boasted that it is already using the OpenKylin system as part of its space program. However, this platform has also found application in the areas of finance and energy. The main advantage of open-source software is the fact that the source code is freely accessible and that anyone can modify and change it at will for the purpose of developing a given system or program.

Most of the applications offered in this way are managed by the community and offered to users free of charge. This is true even for entire operating systems that are an alternative to Microsoft’s Windows, such as the OpenKylin platform. The Chinese operating system community now numbers about 4,000 developers.
